da aviator aposta: A selection of Sunderland fans have been reacting on social media to a clip taken from their Carabao Cup loss to Oxford United, highlighting a penalty shout that was waved away by referee Steve Martin.
da realsbet: The U’s beat the Black Cats on penalties to book their place in the Quarter-Final, after Will Grigg blazed his effort over the bar and Marc McNulty failed to convert the decisive spot-kick.
McNulty had scored the goal which ensured the tie went beyond 90 minutes, when the forward struck home with Sunderland’s only shot on target, having hit the bar in the first-half.
Sunderland fell behind moments after McNulty’s shot crashed against the woodwork, when Rob Hall curled the ball beyond Jon McLaughlin from the edge of the area.
McLaughlin’s counterpart Simon Eastwood almost gave the Black Cats a chance to pull level before the break, but referee Martin opted against pointing to the spot when the goalkeeper appeared to clatter into Joel Lynch and force the defender to the ground.

The Black Cats had a later penalty shout denied as well, with Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson ‘hugely’ frustrated at Martin’s decision.
“The referee has to take a long hard look at himself for two penalties tonight” Parkinson said, via quotes by BBC Sport. “There was a clear penalty in the first half when Joel Lynch was pole-axed in the box.
“The second one – I can’t see how it has not been given. Luke O’Nien was just about to pull the trigger and score or attempt to score – there’s not a great deal of contact, but it’s enough to bring him down and the referee was only 10 yards away.
“Everybody in the ground saw that was a penalty, so it’s hugely frustrating. The game should have been out of sight anyway. Those incidents should be irrelevant.”
