da betobet: Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new manager on Wednesday, and the Spaniard will already be assessing his squad and deciding which areas need strengthening before the 2018/19 season gets underway in August.
da brdice: The north London outfit will want to give the 46-year-old and the fans, who would love their club to sign a £63m midfielder this summer according to Twitter, a squad that will ensure they significantly improve on the sixth-place finish they achieved this season and secure a top-four spot minimum next term, after once again missing out on Champions League qualification.
Meanwhile, head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has already been responsible for bringing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window, and with his expert knowledge of the Bundesliga he could target more individuals playing in the German top flight.
However, there is plenty more talent around Europe they should look to invest in to take the Gunners to the next level and give their new boss the best possible chance of competing for the Premier League title once again.
Here are three signings Mislintat must make to give Emery the perfect start…
With Laurent Koscielny potentially out until 2019 with an Achilles injury and Shkodran Mustafi enduring a difficult campaign, it is clear to see that Arsenal need a new centre-back this summer – and preferably a dominant one.
The Gunners conceded 51 goals in their 38 Premier League matches this term, and they must significantly improve upon that if they are to have a decent season under Emery.
The 6ft 5in tall Koulibaly would certainly fit the bill after establishing himself as one of the best in his position in European football during his time with Napoli, and his defensive strengths as well as his quality when in possession would mean that he is perfect for the Gunners.
While Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, perhaps it is time they instead get the out-and-out physical defensive midfielder that they have perhaps lacked through the middle of the park in recent years.
Weigl would certainly fit the role and provide a shield in front of a leaky back four having impressed for Borussia Dortmund, and the 22-year-old would bring some much-needed steel in the centre to allow the likes of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey to thrive from an attacking point of view alongside him.
Emery has always preferred to play with a DM, and he would surely be delighted if Mislintat brought the German to the Emirates.
While Arsenal have the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Aubameyang in attacking positions, you can’t help but feel that they would be even better if they added another speedy winger who is a big upgrade on Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi.
Step forward Dembele, who Mislintat will know well from his spell with Borussia Dortmund and who could leave Barcelona this summer if they sign Antoine Griezmann.
The 21-year-old has that pace, trickery and quality in the final third to make a huge impression in the Premier League, and Emery would surely love it to be at the Emirates.
