da bet esporte: West Ham are out of Europe.
da dobrowin: The Hammers fell to the Romanian side Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League final play-off round 2-1 on aggregate to see their ambitions for this season suffer a big set-back.
The performance highlighted that the club need some added experience and quality to help unlock their potential that they showed they had last season and manager Slaven Bilic must be tempted to delve into the transfer market to improve the side before the window shuts next week.
Despite no European football now being available to offer to potential players the club still have the draw of playing in one of the best stadiums in the country for design and they should use this to underline to players the heights which they are aiming at.
Bilic may be tempted to look at Ligue 1 in particular. It’s a good league with players waiting for that next big step and the Croatian will feel he can offer them this in east London.
Here at FootballFanCast we think there’s plenty of decent players to pick from too; here are five of them…
Ryad Boudebouz
West Ham have had a knack under Slaven Bilic of signing relatively unknown attacking midfield players before allowing them to realise their potential in the Premier League.
Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini are perfect examples and the next in line could be Boudebouz.
The Algerian can play centrally or down the right whilst at the age of 26 he’s approaching his peak so could be one to look out for.
Abdou Diallo
Diallo is a physically big defender who spent last year on loan from current club Monaco at Zulte Waregem in Belgium.
The 20-year-old centre half accumulated 25 appearances during that spell so may be expected to play a more integral part to his parent side this season.
West Ham have been looking to bring in good young defenders though and any offer could prove very tempting.
Vincent Koziello
The diminutive Koziello has a lot to offer already at the age of 20. He played 35 games in the league last season for Nice and will undoubtedly be just as key in the side this season if he sticks around.
If he doesn’t West Ham would be getting a technically astute player who’s only going to get better for what would be more than likely, a good price.
Robert Beric
Beric is a strong physically imposing presence up front and that’s the kind of player West Ham are good at utilising with Andy Carroll in their ranks.
He started his first season at St. Etienne in relatively good form before a serious injury ruled him out for the season. He’s over that now though and certainly knows where the goal is so could be a good option.
Lassana Diarra
West Ham could do with an experienced holding player in their midfield and Diarra would certainly fit that description.
He’s played for some of the biggest clubs on the continent and here in this country so knows what it takes to play at the highest level and that is where the Hammers want to be.
They feel they have the stadium to compete at the top, now it’s time the squad follow suit and the Frenchman would.
