da supremo: Arguably, the most charismatic manager and the most charismatic footballer in the game, are set to join forces at Manchester United.
da casino: In the dugout, Jose Mourinho. A man that has won titles wherever he’s been and made just as many enemies. Then on the pitch, could be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the man with a million quotes and just as big a serial title winner than his potential boss.
Red Devils fans are in dreamland at the moment, a stark contrast to much of the season that had suggested the club were in the doldrums, falling behind the likes of Leicester, Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester City. Liverpool had bought in a world class manager and Chelsea had confirmed one too. United seemed to be getting left behind.
Then, hours after their FA Cup triumph the simmering Mourinho to Old Trafford rumours began to boil over. As it’s transpired this week those rumours were rather accurate and Manchester United have their man.
Naturally, the club’s been linked with a whole host of new players to take the side back to the title, especially Ibrahimovic and if he and Mourinho unite as they did at Inter Milan they might just be able to turn a few heads. The Times are reporting Mauro Icardi could be the first on the duo’s radar and here at FootballFanCast we think this FIVE could follow…
Marquinhos
The Old Trafford club have been linked with the young Brazilian before but a deal has never materialised. Something could happen now though if Ibrahimovic joins United and lets the club know exactly what they’d be getting. A young but already hugely talented defender the PSG man would slot right in next to Chris Smalling and instantly improve United’s back four.
Willian
Willian was easily Chelsea’s best player last season – especially when Mourinho was at the helm at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian winger clearly wanted to save his manager’s job with his performances and naturally links are emerging that he may want to move north to play under the Portuguese once more. Willian would add a different dynamic to United’s attack introducing some pace and directness out wide.
Angel Di Maria
Before this one gets completely blown out of the water there is method behind this initial apparent madness. Di Maria joined Manchester United and was, to begin with, an impressive player before Louis van Gaal’s approach put the shackles on the Argentine and isolated him. Since, Di Maria has rediscovered his ability at PSG forming a great partnership with Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani and has credited Mourinho for his help in his development. It couldn’t happen, could it?

Karim Benzema
Benzema knows Mourinho from the Portuguese’s spell at Real Madrid. A proven goalscorer the Frenchman could find his spot at Madrid under threat as Cristiano Ronaldo becomes a striker outright and might fancy joining Ibrahimovic at United in an attack that desperately needs experienced forwards. A strike-force consisting of those two would be the stuff of nightmares of Premier League defences.

Saul Niguez
Saul will be one of the best players in the world, it’s just a matter of time. He really announced himself to the big time with a sublime solo effort in the Champions League semi final against Bayern and the Daily Mail think a £54 million bid would be enough to secure the young Spaniard’s signature. Of course critics of Mourinho say he doesn’t give youth much of a chance but Saul’s talent more than makes up for a lack of age and so this wouldn’t be an issue and allowing him to learn off of Ibrahimovic would be a masterstroke.
