Liverpool have confirmed Florian Wirtz as their new No.7 following Luis Diaz’s departure to Bayern Munich. The Germany international takes on an iconic shirt number at Anfield, as the Reds also unveiled squad numbers for their six other summer signings, including Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, ahead of their 2025-26 campaign.

Liverpool have released their updated squad list for the 2025-26 season, confirming new shirt numbers for this summer’s arrivals. They have confirmed that Wirtz will wear the No.7 shirt previously held by Diaz, who recently joined Bayern Munich.

Wirtz, one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders, joined Liverpool in a £116 million ($156m) move from Bayer Leverkusen. The No.7 shirt has been worn by several Anfield icons over the years, including Luis Suarez, Kenny Dalglish and Steve McManaman, adding to the expectation on the 21-year-old.

Kerkez has taken the No.6 shirt, while Frimpong returns to his preferred No.30 from his time at Leverkusen. Hugo Ekitike has been handed the No.22 jersey, and new goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi will wear 25, 28 and 41, respectively. Internally, Conor Bradley (12) and Trey Nyoni (42) have also opted for new numbers.
