The Serbia international had been a target for the Hammers at the beginning of the summer transfer window; Football FanCast sources confirmed that the club were attempting to discover if his contract contained a release clause.
The Daily Star later reported that Mitrovic was on a list of targets for manager Manuel Pellegrini.
However, he has now committed his future to the Cottagers, despite their relegation to the Championship last season, making any deal this summer incredibly unlikely.
And fans have been left mixed over the news that they will likely be unable to sign the 24-year-old in this transfer window.
Indeed, the club have yet to secure a striker despite the departures of Marko Arnautovic, Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll.
